Started in the fall of 2012, the Bourbon Triumvirate is a Georgia based trio creating original music that is as diverse as the backgrounds of the 3 members of the band. Rock and roll, rhythm and blues, country, bluegrass, southern rock, Americana, and soul are just some of the different styles of music represented in the sound of The Bourbon Triumvirate. The band came together in Rydal, Georgia amidst the planning stages of the Lewis Mountain Ramble home concert series hosted at the home of drummer, Joshua Lewis. He and his roommate, bass player Scott Turner, having played together in the Groove Shakers were the house band for the Lewis Mountain Ramble and supported several songwriters. Songwriter Nate Montgomery returned to the Empire State of the South around this time and was looking to put together a band to work up some of his songs with more dynamic arrangements. The result is a trio that blends traditional Georgia Roots Music sounds and contemporary improvisational instrumentals into music that is definitely more than the sum of its parts.

I was born and raised in north Florida and Alabama. After 3yrs in the military I moved to north Georgia and have lived here over 20 years now.
My influences include Sam Cooke, Elvis, Nat King Cole, Johnny Cash, Galactic, Lotus and a lot of Funk, Soul, Blues, Rock, Vintage Country and Jam.
I began playing guitar at 27 years old and I joined my first band. I have played all over Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee with the bands: the Grooveshakers, Southern Exposure, Dang Skippy, and Refried Confusion .

Born just outside of the City of Atlanta my family packed up and moved to the foothills of the Appalachians to escape urban sprawl of the early eighties. With this move came a new way of life, new influences and quickly formed the person I am today. Country, Bluegrass and Gospel music filled the air and by the time I entered high school came Rock, Blues and Funk.
I acquired my first drum kit at the age of 16 thanks to my brother. From there the rest of my teenage years were devoted to learning my craft and soak up as much knowledge as possible.
During college I joined Standard Time, a Blues Rock act. From there came along the Americana Bluegrass group that focused on the lyrical art of songwriting called the Broken Radios. After years of playing around the Atlanta area with Southern Exposure and Refried Confusion, I formed, along with Scott Turner and Mitch Dutto, the Grooveshakers. We toured around the Southeast with our own take on the classic American songbook and improvisational jams.
Today I’m as determined as ever to further my talent and keep pushing the envelope.
With the Bourbon Triumvirate I look forward to meeting new people and spread our Americana sound to the masses. I continue to live on Lewis Mountain where my father brought me over thirty years ago. Several times a year I welcome other musicians with like-minded passions of live music to play the Lewis Mountain Ramble, my house concert series.

Born and raised in GA, I began playing drums at the age of 10. Having played in countless bands through my teens and early twenties I began playing guitar at 20. I immediately began writing songs, in fact part of the catalyst behind learning guitar was as an outlet for much of the writing I was already doing. Having listened to and played music most of my life I realized that as I learned the guitar I somehow already knew many of the old country and rock songs I grew up hearing, I just needed to find my own voice in them. I have spent the last18 years doing just that. Whether through my own songs of trying to cover an old country or bluegrass song, or playing some old blues or folk songs or any other genre of music that appeals to me, my focus has been finding songs that I identify with and that I can hear my own voice in.
